2nd Alarm Requested For Attic Fire In Exeter

At 04:47 hours the Exeter Township Fire Department and mutual aid companies were dispatched to a structure fire at 2 Courtleigh Pl in Exeter Township. Deputy 25-2 arrived to find fire showing from the D/C corner of 2 story dwelling and immediately requested the 2nd alarm. Firefighters stretched a 1 3/4” line towards the house off of Rescue Engine 25 where crews quickly got water on the fire. Tower 25 and Mt. Penn Ladder 1 arrived and set their aerials to the roof of dwelling. Interior crews advised of heavy fire in the attic space. A second handline was stretched into the house where fire in the living room was knocked down. A 3rd line was placed in service on the exterior of the house where fire was knocked down on side Charlie. Command requested the fire marshal be dispatched to the scene. With a bulk of the fire knocked down truck companies worked on cutting holes in the roof. A 3” line was connected to Tower 25 in case any water was needed on the roof. At 05:20 hours the fire was placed under control with overhaul. By 05:32 command began releasing companies. Crews continued to battle hot spots and open up the attic until the fire was confirmed to be out. The final units were cleared the scene just over 2 hours after the initial dispatch.
