Exeter TWP, PA - A destructive early-morning fire tore through an attached garage and spread into a single-family dwelling on Friday, prompting incident commanders to strike a second alarm and summon mutual aid resources from across the region.

In the early morning hours of October 2, 2026, emergency dispatchers alerted local and surrounding fire companies to a working structure fire in Amity Township. Arriving responders encountered a single-family home engulfed in heavy fire, with intense flames blowing out of the garage and actively extending into the interior living spaces of the residence.

Recognizing the rapid rate of spread and immediate structural threat, command upgraded the incident to a second alarm to bring additional personnel and apparatus to the fireground. The Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department’s Rescue Engine 25, which was clearing a separate emergency call, immediately redirected to the scene.

Upon arrival, Exeter personnel joined interior and exterior crews in an aggressive suppression operation, advancing hoselines to knock down the main body of fire and halting further interior extension. Firefighters then conducted extensive overhaul evolutions, opening up walls and ceilings to detect and extinguish hidden pockets of fire before turning the scene over to local fire investigators.
