On January 15, the Oneco Fire Department held their usual training night, which concentrated on chimney fire operations. Firefighters used a newly built training prop to simulate actual situations and rehearse tactics. Members practiced ladder placement and safety, chimney fire control techniques, and roof saw use. These skills are required for a safe and successful response to chimney fires, which are common throughout the winter. During the evening, members also salvaged an older dry hydrant from within town, which will be restored and relocated for later use.
