Oneco, CT — February 5th — Members of the Oneco Fire Company spent the evening practicing ice rescue operations. Firefighters ran through various scenarios including victims trapped on ice and in chilly water. Crews trained rescue operations, victim removal, and safety procedures for slick and winter weather. Ice rescue training is vital in locations with ponds and waterways, where changeable weather can lead to dangerous circumstances. Regular drills help firefighters become comfortable with specialized equipment and coordinated rescue techniques.
