Jan. 31, 2026 — Baldwin County Fire Rescue and local emergency management officials issued a public safety advisory Friday night as falling temperatures created slick road conditions and the potential for black ice across the county. Although snowfall was minimal, rapidly dropping temperatures increased the risk of icy patches, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and less-traveled roads. Drivers were urged to slow down, leave extra following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns. Public Safety and Emergency Management staff continued monitoring road conditions and encouraged residents to follow official county channels for real-time updates. Officials emphasized that cautious driving can help prevent crashes and keep both residents and first responders safe.
