The Clinton Volunteer Fire Department reported a busy January, which is usually calmer, but this year's activity was more in pace with summer call volumes. During January, the agency responded to 221 calls for service, up 10% from 2025 and 18% from 2024. Crews responded to multiple fires in the Town of Clinton and provided mutual aid to adjacent municipalities. Prolonged freezing temperatures and repeated snowfall posed further obstacles, necessitating many days of removing over 350 fire hydrants and more than a dozen water holes. Daily checks were also made to ensure that the department's boat was free of ice and ready for usage.
