On the morning of January 20, the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department responded with the Clinton CT Police Department, Madison Hose Co. No. 1, and Madison Emergency Medical Services to a report of a person in the water on the Hammonasset River.

A Clinton police officer arrived first, and he was able to toss the individual a rope. Responders safely brought the person to shore with the help of Clinton firefighters and Riverbend Marina staff. The individual was then escorted to an ambulance and transferred for medical evaluation. This incident marked the department’s 147th call for service so far this year. Officials noted that January is on pace to be one of the busiest on record, with crews also handling several minor fires and multiple motor vehicle accidents in recent weeks.
