Mutual Aid Supports Hubbardston at Residential Basement Fire

Hubbardston, MA — January 25th — A reported basement fire at 17 Healdville Road prompted the Hubbardston Fire Department, which is based at 48 Gardner Road in Hubbardston, Massachusetts, to react. Ambulance 2, Engine 1, Tanker 1, and Engine 3 were sent out. The first floor of the house was heavily smoke-filled when the rescuers arrived. After entering, the Engine 1 crew discovered an active fire in the basement. Local mutual aid was solicited, and a working fire was declared.


Before the rescue, five residents were able to leave the house. For an assessment of smoke inhalation, two residents were taken to a nearby hospital. Three cats were also found inside the house by firefighters, one of them was receiving oxygen. Numerous local fire units and support organizations offered assistance. Investigations about the fire are still ongoing.
