New Braintree, MA — January 21st — In the Town of Oakham, the New Braintree Fire Department responded to a four-alarm structure fire at 67 Skyline Drive. Early in the morning, a 9-1-1 call about a house fire prompted the dispatch of fire agencies. When firefighters arrived, a single-family home was emitting a lot of smoke and fire. The operations were carried out in a snow-covered environment with temperatures close to four degrees, resulting in frozen hose lines and ice terrain. To send in more resources, including tanker support, many alarms were set off.
After prolonged operations, firefighters were able to contain the fire. Inside the house, one adult inhabitant was discovered dead. The cause and manner of death will be decided by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Local and state authorities are still looking into the fire.
