New Britain, CT - One person died and two others were treated for smoke inhalation at a fire on the 6th floor of a large, six-story apartment building on February 3rd. Flames were rolling out of a top floor window when firefighters arrived at 85 Spring Street around 2:00 A.M.

Once firefighters were able to hook up to a standpipe and get water flowing on the fire it was quickly put out. Around 83 residents needed to evacuate the building, some with the help of firefighters.

The three-alarm fire required mutual aid, with Hartford and Bristol responding to the scene and West Hartford and UConn covering the city. The fire was held to one apartment and the cause is under investigation.
