The Wood-Ridge Fire Department commemorated Firefighter Thomas E. Dunn's line-of-duty death anniversary on January 4. On January 4, 1994, Rescue Company 5 firefighter Dunn died while responding to a residential fire on College Place. Department documents state that Dunn was looking for a potential victim at the time of the event. His behavior demonstrated the obligations firemen take on when performing primary searches in dangerous situations. Line-of-duty deaths are formally recognized throughout the fire service as a reminder of the risks faced during emergency operations.

The Wood-Ridge Fire Department honored Firefighter Dunn’s service and sacrifice, noting that his commitment to duty continues to be remembered by members of the department and the broader emergency services community.
