Westfield, NJ — January 21, 2026: On Wednesday morning, a reported structure fire in the 300 block of St. Johns Place prompted the Westfield Fire Department to respond. Smoke was coming from the second floor of a two-story single-family home when the first apparatus arrived three minutes after the report was made at 8:34 a.m. Every occupant was verified to be outside safely. On the Bravo side of the building, firefighters discovered a fire that was spreading between the first and second floors inside an inner wall. After the fire was swiftly put out, workers finished the overhaul to see if there was any more time.

Union County mutual-aid organizations covered the town, and a ladder truck from the Cranford Fire Department arrived. Additionally, the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Westfield Police Department provided assistance. There were no reported injuries. The Westfield Fire Prevention Bureau looked into the fire and found that it was electrical in origin.
