West Berlin, NJ — January 9 — The West Berlin Fire-Rescue, which is situated at 186 Haddon Avenue, had its yearly Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Part 1 training. Firefighters finished the necessary modules, which included cylinder exchange, SCBA terminology, mask fit testing, and correct donning and doffing techniques. Additionally, crews performed cylinder refill procedures using the department's fill station and cascade system while reviewing Mayday operations. Members can operate in IDLH contexts with baseline knowledge and practical proficiency thanks to annual SCBA training. Additionally, the workshop prepares participants for SCBA Part 2 live burn training, which applies skills in controlled environments. According to department representatives, regular SCBA training is still essential for firefighter safety and operational preparedness.
