Mount Ephraim, NJ — Jan. 25 — In order to continue winter operations, Mount Ephraim Fire Department personnel cleared snow and ice from fire hydrants located across the municipality. The necessity to strike a balance between emergency response and seasonal readiness duties was highlighted when crews were momentarily redirected from their efforts to handle another emergency call.

Hydrants blocked by snow or ice can cause delays in water supply during fire operations, especially in winter, according to fire officials. Departments in the area frequently emphasize how crucial it is to keep hydrants accessible and visible after snowfall.

When it is feasible, residents who have a fire hydrant close to their curb are urged to help by removing snow and ice. During winter weather events, fire authorities stressed that community collaboration promotes safe and efficient operations and speeds up response times.
