Jan 27 — Howell Township, NJ: In order to provide emergency coverage for the neighborhood during a recent winter, the Southard Fire Department No. 1 acknowledged its members for staffing the department. While winter weather affected the area, firefighters continued to be ready to respond to calls despite dangerous travel conditions and prolonged operations. When road conditions restrict driving and call volumes may rise, standby staffing during snow storms helps preserve response capabilities. Chief Tucker congratulated firefighters for reporting for duty and juggling departmental duties with family obligations in a message to the membership.
