Newport, NJ — January 5 — In response to a demand for emergency medical services, the Downe Township Fire/Rescue and Dive Team arrived in Newport. Utility 39 was sent to assist on-site EMS personnel. While EMS personnel assessed and treated the patient, firefighters helped with scene coordination and supplied extra personnel. The unit stayed on site to assist with patient mobility, access requirements, and general scene safety.

In order to complement EMS operations and ensure uninterrupted patient care, fire-rescue units are often called upon during medical calls. Both efficiency and responder safety are enhanced by these coordinated reactions.
