Fortescue, NJ — January 4 — For the yearly Downe Township Polar Plunge, which was organized by the Downe Township Green Team, the Downe Township Fire/Rescue and Dive Team offered backup services. The community turned out in large numbers as the celebration grew.

Throughout the plunge, firefighters were on the scene to promote participant safety. Following the event, volunteers and attendees went back to the Fortescue Firehouse to warm up, eat chili, and play a Downe Township-focused trivia game. Lawrence Township EMS supplied medical standby for the plunge, assisting both participants and responders. During a well-attended community event, the coordinated effort demonstrated good cooperation across local agencies.
