Secaucus, NJ — January 23 — As part of Firefighter I, Class 620, four probationary members of the Secaucus Fire Department successfully finished flashover training at the Bergen County Fire Academy. As the class approaches its latter days, the evolution represented a significant turning point.

The live-fire training, which focuses on fire behavior, heat awareness, and interior safety, was attended by probationary firefighters Timothy Petliar, Adam Swift, Hailey Mojica, and Kamraj Ravikumar. A prerequisite for Firefighter I certification is flashover training, which equips participants for actual situations. The class meets twice a week starting in July 2025. As participants strive for certification and graduation, the program requires constant attendance, a strong commitment, and the development of practical skills, according to department officials.
