Kearny, NJ — January 15 — Following the completion of equipment mounting, members of the Kearny Fire Department recently received the department's new Squad 2. When the last outfitting was completed, Firefighter DeSousa and Captain Ho removed the equipment.
According to department officials, the new squad will assist with a variety of tasks, such as rescue, specialized responses, and fire suppression. Members are required to finish training in order to familiarize themselves with the vehicle, tools, and onboard systems prior to the apparatus being put into operation. In order to guarantee safe and efficient operations, fire authorities pointed out that practical training is a normal procedure when new equipment is added to the fleet. After member training is over, Squad 2 is anticipated to be sent into service.
