Bayonne Fire Controls Kitchen Fire in Multi-Unit Building

Bayonne, NJ — December 31 — The Bayonne Office of Emergency Management reported a one-alarm apartment fire at 102 Evergreen Street on Tuesday night. Following numerous 911 calls reporting a fire in a multi-unit residential complex, Bayonne Fire Department units were sent out.
A fire was discovered in a second-floor apartment's kitchen by responding companies. Before the fire could spread outside the unit, firefighters advanced a handline and swiftly put it out. With help from the Bayonne Police Department, the building's occupants were safely evacuated before being permitted to return to their homes. According to incident Chief Keith Weaver, the cause of the incident is still being looked into and is not thought to be suspicious. According to officials, the prompt action reduced the amount of damage.
