Deptford Township, NJ — 7th January — Three members of Station 9-1 graduated from the Firefighter I course at the Atlantic County Fire Academy, kicking off the New Year with a bang. The curriculum trains participants for interior firefighting operations through classroom education, practical skills, and live-fire training. Obtaining Firefighter I certification requires a substantial time investment from each member and is a prerequisite for working on the fireground. The firemen will continue department-level training after graduation and handle emergencies in accordance with normal operating procedures. The importance of regional fire academies in upholding uniform training standards throughout New Jersey was underlined by officials. The achievement demonstrates the Deptford Fire Department's (based at 1370 Delsea Drive) ongoing emphasis on training and preparedness.
