Mutual Aid Supports Working Fire in Ocean Township

Waretown, NJ — January 22 — Due to a reported structure fire, the Forked River Fire Department and Waretown Volunteer Fire Company were sent to the Dock Avenue neighborhood. After Ocean Township Police arrived first and verified that the fire was operational, resources from Forked River and Barnegat were added to the first-alarm assignment.


After arriving, firefighters from Forked River and Waretown launched a coordinated fire attack and contained the fire in about ten minutes. The Barnegat Fire Department helped with ventilation and overhaul. To finish suppression, overhaul, and scene safety duties, units stayed on the scene for around three hours. The Ocean Township Police Department and the Ocean County Fire Marshals Office took over the scene after operations to investigate the cause and origin.
