On the evening of January 4, while companies were operating at an unrelated fire alarm, the Lyndhurst Fire Department was dispatched to the 600 block of Third Avenue for a reported kitchen fire. The North Arlington Fire Department was called in as a FAST unit once crews arrived, verified that the fire was operational, and transmitted the assignment.
Firefighters discovered an active fire in the kitchen of a two-family home's ground floor living area. There were reports of heavy smoke on both the ground floor and the first floor. Engine 1's 1½-inch handline swiftly put out the main body of fire. For nearly an hour, crews were on the scene performing ventilation and overhaul tasks. The Lyndhurst Fire Official investigated the incident and found it to be non-suspicious, however the precise reason was still unknown. There were no reported injuries.
