Point Pleasant, NJ — January 21 — As part of its winter training program, Point Pleasant Fire Department Station 75 finished an ice rescue exercise. Firefighters studied hazard identification, scene management, and cold-water response protocols for occurrences on ice-covered streams. Crews used department ice-rescue equipment to practice tethered approaches, self-rescue techniques, and patient packaging.
Officers observed that practical training reinforces safety in cold conditions for both civilians and responders. Members were also able to examine radio communications, coordination procedures, and command responsibilities that are frequently employed when mutual aid is requested during the practice. These kinds of seasonal workouts help maintain steady operations when temperatures are below freezing. Point Pleasant Fire Department Station 75, located at 1 Memorial Drive, continues to place a strong emphasis on routine training to sustain preparedness and efficient response capabilities throughout the winter.
