Point Pleasant Beach, NJ — January 6 — This week, three Ocean Fire Company probationary members started fire school at the Ocean County Fire Academy, beginning the process of becoming certified firefighters. Classroom education and practical training in fire suppression, safety protocols, hose operations, ladders, and fundamental rescue techniques are all part of the multi-month program. Under trained fire instructors, recruits will receive training in accordance with New Jersey training requirements alongside members from departments throughout Ocean County.

A crucial element in preparing new firefighters for interior operations and safe emergency response, according to department officials, is academy training. Members will continue in-house exercises and employ newly acquired skills under supervision as the course goes on. As the department prepares for future manpower requirements, training new firefighters continues to be a top concern.
