Speeding Car Causes Multiple-Vehicle Crash with Rollover in Whitman

WHITMAN, MA - Around 3:00 P.M. on the afternoon of Sunday, January 14th, the Whitman Fire Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Temple Street and Bedford Street.


Companies arrived to find a multiple-vehicle crash with one car on its roof in the area of 691 Bedford Street. Command requested an additional ambulance to the scene and a box struck for manpower. The operator of the overturned auto was transported to the South Shore Hospital with an additional paramedic on-board. The occupant of the other vehicle was transported to South Shore Hospital by a mutual aid ambulance from Abington.


Witnesses reported the vehicle that overturned was traveling in excess of 70MPH at the time of the collision. The Whitman Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident with the assistance of the Plymouth County Sheriffs Department BCI Unit.
