As winter approaches, the Bogota Fire Department encouraged locals to remove snow from fire hydrants. Fire hydrants should have a clear access from the hydrant to the street and a clear 3-foot perimeter surrounding them. In an emergency, every second counts, and firemen may be slowed down by snow-covered hydrants when they need to quickly access a water supply. In the event of a fire or other emergency, clearing hydrants ensures that teams can work effectively. Residents are thanked for taking a few minutes to help keep hydrants visible and accessible and for supporting public safety efforts during winter weather.
