Island Heights, NJ — December 22 — The Island Heights Volunteer Fire Co. 1, situated at 15 Lake Avenue, responded as mutual aid to a working home fire in Toms River's Money Island neighborhood. When Engine 5311 arrived on time, it started working at a fire that was already heavily involved. To aid in suppression operations, Engine 5301 set up a water supply. Working with several Toms River fire departments, crews moved swiftly to contain the fire and prevent its spread. Effective hose line placement and fireground activities were made possible by agency coordination. Seaside Park Station 45 Volunteer Fire Company supplied station coverage for Island Heights while both Island Heights engines were on the scene. Units were put back into service after operations were finished, and no injuries were reported.
