Fire On Pine Drive In Schodack Stopped By Police Before It Could Spread

Schodack, NY - On January 5th, 2023, at 10:50AM, The Nassau Fire Department along with the East Schodack Fire Department, South Schodack Fire Department, and Castleton ambulance was dispatched for a reported structure fire in the area of Concord Drive and Pine Drive South. The caller reported smoke coming from the house. The first arriving police unit on scene advised the dispatcher that they had smoke showing from the structure. The dispatcher notified the chief that called in route to the scene that the police department had smoke showing.

Police units made their way inside of the structure where they discovered the homeowner inside and discovered a working fire. Police officers utilized a fire extinguisher and Nassau car two arrived on scene along with the first two arriving pieces of apparatus followed quickly behind by additional mutual aid units. Firefighters made their way to the front door of the structure and made their way inside and removed the burning objects from the home. The homeowner was taken over to the ambulance to be evaluated.

Firefighters vented the structure and command requested code enforcement to come to the scene. Firefighters wet down the burning objects from the home and checked over the area where the fire was to make sure there was no extension. The homeowner was transported to the hospital for an evaluation. The fire is under investigation at this time.
