BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — December 25 — A reported structure fire on West Shore Drive, a portion of Bloomingdale accessible via Wanaque, prompted the Bloomingdale Fire Department to react late on Christmas Day. When firefighters arrived, they discovered a completely burned-out house. It was verified that the house was empty at the time.
While suppression operations were underway, surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution. Wanaque, Pompton Lakes, Skyline Lake, and Ringwood fire departments provided support to Bloomingdale units. First aid teams from Wanaque and Pompton Lakes assessed two firefighters for smoke inhalation. There were no reports of civilian injuries. The issue is still being looked into.
