WAYNE, NJ — January 2 — Throughout the day, the Community Volunteer Fire Company #1, Inc. continued to operate throughout Wayne Township while responding to two distinct fire situations. A garage trash can fire with a small extension into the building was the cause of the initial call. Before leaving the scene, firefighters swiftly established a handline, prevented additional spread, and finished extension checks.

Crews were sent to a reported structure fire in another part of the township later that day. As they coordinated with other responding agencies, companies arrived, carried out inside operations, and attempted to contain the situation. At both incidents, no injuries were recorded. In handling both calls, department officials pointed out that prompt reaction, coordination, and regular training were crucial.
