WAYNE, NJ — January 1 — Due to ongoing fire department operations close to Fairfield Road and Finn's Drive, the Community Volunteer Fire Company #1, Inc. issued a traffic advisory. Because firefighters were working on the road, traffic control measures were necessary to protect responders and the general public.

While operations were ongoing, drivers were cautioned to stay away from the area and to anticipate delays and marked detours. While personnel tried to control the situation and clear the area, access was restricted to emergency vehicles and necessary traffic. In order to facilitate the unhindered movement of fire apparatus and other emergency vehicles, public safety officials stressed the significance of maintaining open roads. In order to support safe and effective emergency operations, drivers were asked to slow down, obey instructions from on-scene professionals, and take other routes when feasible.
