Hancocks Bridge, NJ — December 22 — At the Lower Alloways Creek Township Road Garage, sixteen personnel of Lower Alloways Creek Fire & Rescue's Station 18 and Squad 18 participated in a combined extrication training exercise. Crews went over car cribbing, airbag operations, and a number of other extrication methods frequently employed in auto accidents. Maintaining safe work environments for responders and patients, coordinated tool use, and appropriate stabilization were the key topics of the drill. Crews can increase communication during actual emergencies and maintain consistency with protocols when they train together. Department officials expressed gratitude to the Lower Alloways Creek Township Road Garage for granting permission to use the space, pointing out that having access to appropriate training sites promotes readiness and safer emergency operations. Rob Hill, a former chief, supplied pictures from the training.
