January 21, 2026 approximately 945am- Paterson FD Squad 6, Ladder 2 and BC Scherer responded to the report of a dumpster fire on Getty Ave, near the Southside Firehouse. On arrival, units encountered a 30 yard dumpster located in the roadway in front of a scrap metal yard. Initial attack was to the contents which were still inside the dumpster. Ultimately the dumpster had to be placed on the bed of the trash hauler to be offloaded onto the road way to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries and the roadway was reopened in about an hour. There were no injuries. the cause of the fire is under investigation.
