Second Alarm Fire Take a Life in Carlstadt

Carlstadt, NJ – Just after 4:00 p.m. on January 16, Carlstadt Fire was dispatched to 417 Third St. on a report of a second-alarm fire and quickly escalated operations to a second alarm.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the second floor, where the fire was located, conducting a rapid search while a handline was advanced.
The fire was knocked down within 30 minutes.
During a secondary search, a male victim was located.
There were no injuries to any firefighters. Mutual aid from East Rutherford, Hasbrouck Heights, North Arlington, Wallington, and Wood-Ridge was requested to the scene.
The Bergen County Arson Investigation Unit was called to determine the cause of the fire, along with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Countywide Emergency Response Unit was on scene to provide refreshments to responders.
