RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ - Just after 6:00 P.M. on a rainy January 19th, the Ridgefield Park Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on Hille Place.

Chief of Department Antola arrived on scene and reported heavy fire showing on the second floor and attic. A second-alarm was transmitted, bringing mutual aid companies to the scene.

Companies started an interior attack, but when conditions started rapidly deteriorating, the home was evacuated and firefighters transitioned to a defensive operation. As heavy fire took possession of the second floor and eventually vented through the roof, a third alarm was transmitted to bring in companies for firehouse coverage.

Master streams from Ridgefield Park truck companies and Bogota's ladder went into operation. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down, companies reentered the home and resumed knocking down the rest of the fire.

Crews operated for an extended period of time conducting extensive overhaul. Mutual aid from Little Ferry, Bogota, Hackensack and Teaneck operated on scene. There was one minor injury reported. The fire is being investigated by the Ridgefield Park Fire Official.
