Heavy fire damages Ridgefield Park home

Just after 6:00 PM on a rainy January 19, the Ridgefield Park Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on Hille Pl. Chief of Dept. Antola arrived on scene and reported heavy fire showing on the second floor and the attic. A 2nd alarm was transmitted bringing mutual aid companies to the scene. Companies started a interior attack but conditions rapidly deteriorated and evacuated the home and transitioned to a defensive operation as heavy fire took possession of the second floor and eventually vented through the roof. A 3rd alarm transmitted to bringing in companies for firehouse coverage. Master streams from Ridgefield Park truck companies and Bogota ladder went into operation. The bulk of the fire was knocked down and companies reentered the home to resume to knock down the rest of the fire. Crews operated for an extended time to conduct extensive overhaul. Mutual aid from Little Ferry, Bogota, Hackensack and Teaneck operated on scene. There was 1 minor injury reported. The fire is being investigated by the Ridgefield Park Fire Official.
