Somerset, N.J. — January 1st — Somerset Fire & Rescue Co. No. 1 reported responding to 1,123 service requests in 2025, indicating a steady demand for emergency response all year long. Fires, car crashes, alarms, and a variety of service requests were among the incidents that occurred throughout the area.

Firefighters responded to 74 calls in December and continued to operate during the Christmas season while keeping personnel and preparedness levels high. To support day-to-day operations and mutual aid duties, the department continued to conduct routine training and equipment inspections. The yearly call volume, according to department officials, emphasizes the value of volunteer staffing, coordinated response, and collaboration with nearby organizations. The department is still committed to training, being ready, and offering the Somerset community dependable service as the new year gets underway.
