Hillsborough Township, NJ — 26th December — Due to bad road conditions throughout the township, the Flagtown Fire/Rescue - Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. #1 staffed its firehouse with volunteers and career personnel overnight. Even though travel conditions remained difficult, the increased workforce guaranteed ongoing emergency response coverage.
Members made good use of their standby time by finishing planned training. Crews used the department's forced entry simulator to conduct practical drills and helped new hires with probationary task book checkoffs. During weather-related staffing intervals, these changes concentrated on preserving operational preparedness and strengthening fundamental abilities. Officers from the department observed that training during overnight coverage keeps staff members motivated and ready while maintaining reaction capability. As the effects of winter weather continue, the department keeps an eye on road conditions and manpower requirements.
