Binghamton Firefighters Rescue Trapped Man from West Side House Fire

Binghamton, NY — December 18 — At 4:25 a.m., firefighters from the Binghamton Fire Department arrived at 8 Highland Avenue on the west side of the city in response to a reported working home fire with entrapment. One adult male was reportedly stuck on the second level, but the majority of residents were able to flee on their own before firefighters arrived. West Side crews assigned to Quint 2 arrived quickly from the Main Street station and located the trapped occupant. The person was taken out of the building and brought to safety by firefighters. The patient was transported by Superior Ambulance to Wilson Hospital for evaluation.
Other incoming crews searched the house, put out the fire, and obtained a water supply. No firefighter injuries were recorded, and no more individuals were discovered to be trapped. Residents who are displaced are receiving aid from the Red Cross. Additionally, Binghamton Police, Superior Ambulance, Maine Ambulance, dispatchers from Broome County, and NYSEG provided assistance at the scene.
