NIVERVILLE, NY — December 8 — During a holiday fundraising event in Greenport, members of the Niverville Fire Department Inc., located at PO Box 422 (888 County Route 28), provided assistance to the Salvation Army. Firefighters helped in the Salvation Army's yearly bell-ringing campaign at the Greenport Walmart on Thursday night. Every year, Past Chief Swartz organizes the celebration, which has been a longstanding tradition for the department.

The campaign's proceeds support neighborhood initiatives that give locals food, clothing, and support throughout the winter. As part of the fire service's continuous dedication to community support, department members gave their time. Past Chief Swartz and the participating members were commended by department authorities for carrying on the custom and helping neighbours throughout the holiday season.
