NIVERVILLE, NY — December 30 — An lengthy incident was reported by the Niverville Fire Department Inc., located at PO Box 422 (888 County Route 28), along Route 9 close to Main Street.

Prior to being dispatched to support the Valatie Fire Company, which was responding to many auto accidents in the Main Street area, Niverville Fire had previously resolved a small hazardous materials incident. The New York State Department of Transportation put road-closed barriers on Route 9 because of continuing operations. To enable emergency personnel to operate safely, the road is blocked from the vicinity of Bagel Time to Main Street. In order to coordinate traffic control and scene safety, fire, police, and highway personnel stay on the scene. Until the area is reopened, drivers are recommended to use alternate routes.
