Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey — December 18 — A single-car motor vehicle collision with a trapped occupant prompted the dispatch of Jefferson Township Fire Department Company #1 and Jefferson Township Fire Company #2. The only person inside the car was safely removed by Fire Company #2 units when they arrived first and verified the occurrence.

Firefighters worked to reduce risks at the scene and stayed on duty until a tow company removed the car. All units were put back into service in about an hour after operations were finished effectively. Serving the Lake Hopatcong region, Jefferson Township Fire Company #2 is entirely volunteer-run. Operating out of 736 Route 15 South, the department still depends on volunteer manning to sustain response capability and offer the community dependable emergency services.
