As part of a mutual-aid assignment, the Dumont Volunteer Fire Department responded to a late-morning kitchen fire on Center Street in New Milford on Christmas Day. Alongside firemen from New Milford, Oradell, and River Edge, Dumont units, including Rescue 3, Engine 4, and Chief 210, responded. Chief 201 and Tower 21 of Oradell were also sent to help. When Tower 21 personnel arrived, they went inside the house to look for people and assisted in putting out the main fire while hose lines were being set up. To enhance firefighter safety during indoor operations, Dumont firefighters were designated as the Rapid Intervention Team.
