Keyport, NJ — December 16 —The Keyport Fire Department was called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision with injuries near Route 36 and Broad Street. One person was hurt and unable to get out of the car when the department's squad and truck arrived. In order to allow access for medical care and safe removal, firefighters removed the passenger-side door. After being extricated, one patient was taken to emergency medical services for assessment and transportation. Authorities pointed out that this was the second car accident on Route 36 that had been reported in the same vicinity earlier in the day, underscoring the corridor's persistent traffic issues. With the help of the Washington Engine Co., scene operations were successfully finished. Units cleared after completing their tasks, and no responder injuries were reported.
