Hope, NJ — December 28 — Due to dangerous driving conditions caused by ice roads, the Hope Volunteer Fire Department was working on Interstate 80 eastbound. Firefighters arrived in response to reports that the road was slick and challenging to drive on due to ice-covered pavement.
While keeping an eye out for more occurrences, crews positioned equipment to secure the scene and help with traffic control. According to officials, ice conditions can easily cause delays and crashes, particularly at night. In order to lessen risks and preserve public and responder safety, the fire department collaborated with law enforcement and roadway agencies. It was recommended that drivers in the area slow down, extend their following distance, and keep an eye out for emergency vehicles operating on the road.
