On January 1st, members of the Township of Washington Fire Department responded to their first call of 2026 by helping the Paramus Fire Department. While Paramus units worked at a working fire in another part of the township early on New Year's Day, firefighters from Washington Township stood by at Paramus Fire Company 1 for almost two hours. Throughout the crisis, Paramus's fire protection coverage was maintained thanks to the standby assignment. Washington Township units were released and put back into action once all Paramus companies had cleared the fire scene.
