South Old Bridge, NJ — December 4 — Based at 467 Spotswood Englishtown Road, Station 51 of Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 responded on mutual aid to a second alarm structure fire in South Old Bridge. Within minutes, Tower 51 and Deputy 51 were operational. Tower 51 was instructed to set up in a nearby driveway after discovering a working shed fire upon arrival. Deputy 51 informed command from the tower bucket that the fire was still restricted to the shed area and that no embers had spread to neighboring homes. Crews from Tower 51 finished overhauling, helped with fire control and extended a second assault line from a South Old Bridge engine. Before clearing and resuming operations, Station 51 troops were on the scene for a little more than an hour.
