MASTIC, NY - On December 10, 2022 at about 12:47 P.M., the Mastic Fire Department was activated to respond to a motor vehicle crash on Montauk Hwy., near Pershing Street. Mastic FD Chiefs Gene Martucci and Steve Januskiewicz responded to the scene of the incident.
On arrival the chiefs advised incoming units that they had a three-vehicle MVA involving an ambulance. Ambulance crews from several local departments were also activated and responded to the scene. Incoming ambulances and EMS vehicles included Mastic, Shirley, Mastic Beach, Center Moriches and Stony Brook University Hospital.
Fire Department personnel had to secure the vehicles and also clean up extensive fluids that were on the ground from the crash. While they were doing that EMS personnel treated and packaged multiple people, including three members of the service for transport to a local hospital for evaluation. None of the injuries appeared to be serious, and the scene was turned over to Suffolk Police.
