Dunellen, NJ — December 10 — Due to a reported fire in the 200 block of Grove Avenue, members of Dunellen Defender Fire Company #1 were called into Middlesex Borough for a mutual assistance assignment. As requested, Dunellen units arrived and were given operational responsibilities. In order to contain the residual fire conditions, firefighters helped Middlesex crews put out the fire. After the site was secured and all fire spots were completely extinguished, Dunellen staff assisted with overhaul operations.
Crews worked with local and mutual aid departments under the incident command structure. Dunellen forces stayed on the scene until they were ordered to leave, at which point they went back to their quarters. The answer demonstrated the ongoing collaboration between adjacent departments in times of mutual need.
