Avenel, NJ — December 13 — In response to an incident on Bender Avenue, Avenel Fire Department personnel were sent into Iselin District 11 on a mutual assistance assignment with Truck 5-2-5. Avenel staff were given a variety of operational responsibilities upon arriving to assist district firms.

Personnel from Truck 5-2-5 carried out ventilation operations to enhance inside conditions and support suppression attempts. Alongside Iselin and mutual aid units, crews worked on the scene for around two hours. Avenel units were freed and put back in their quarters after their tasks were finished. The reaction demonstrated the importance of coordinated mutual aid in handling extended fireground operations as well as ongoing departmental coordination.
